Some of you may not care about what fancy gear we have around the studio...others live and breathe hardware
and software specifications. So, for the sake of keeping track of our inventory, we'll mention a little
about our gear on this page for your enjoyment!
Microphones
We have a variety of legendary mics in our locker, including legendary names like Neumann M149, Neumann U87, Neumann KM184s, Sennheiser, AKG and Shure.
Preamps
We have some incredible classic preamps, including Universal Audio 6176, Avalon VT737sp and the Vintech 273. The UA6176 has a tube preamp and
FET compression used on everyone from Frank Sinatra to Van Halen. The Avalon is a tube preamp and compressor that adds
warmth and richness to just about anything you put through it. The Vintech generates the classic and punchy Neve sound used on hit records
since the 1960s. We also use the Onyx preamps in our Mackie 1200F for some of the most pristine digital signals available. All of this variety
lets us choose the right preamp/compressor combination for the track.
A/D Converters
We utilize our Mackie 1200F Onyx to get the signal into our recording hardware. This interface can convert at up
to 24-bit 192 kHz, for amazing audio quality.
Monitors
We reference our mixes through our Event Studio Precision 8 monitors. These sound incredible and truly reproduce
exactly what was tracked.
Server
We track everything to our server, custom designed specifically for our studio. It has an Intel Core 2 Quad processor
loaded with RAM, and terabytes of data storage for redundancy and safe storage of your files. We also use external hard drives
for offline backup of media. Everything is protected with Furman power conditioners and a UPS.
Outboard Gear
When we need it, we use classic outboard effects from Yamaha and Roland along with a variety of other effects that inevitably get
collected over the years.
Software
Our primary recording software is Nuendo 4 from Steinberg. We also use Cubase and Mackie Tracktion when needed. We use Melodyne Studio 3
for pitch correction and audio tweaking. We also
use Sony Soundforge 9 for other audio work, and have a variety of plugins (Lexicon, Apogee, Steinberg) and conversion software at our
disposal.
Guitar Amps
We have a classic 1987 Marshall Plexi head in mint condition, and an early 90's Marshall JCM900. We also use a vintage
Mesa Boogie Quad Preamp for a variety of sonic textures. Of course, you are always welcome to bring your own rig to the
session to get your sound!
Speaker Cabinets
We have two Marshall 4x12 cabinets...one is an original 1967 cabinet with Vintage 30 speakers. The other is a late 80's
cabinet with vintage 1967 greenback speakers.
Guitars
Although most guitar players are pretty attached to there own axe, if additional tones are needed, we've got several acoustic,
electric and bass guitars available for your use, including brands like Gibson, Spector, Carvin, Ibanez and even a custom designed,
hand-crafted one-of-a-kind guitar built by a legendary luthier.
Other Gear
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we've got mic stands and cables and tuners and bottled water and moist towelettes. Anything you need to
be comfortable in the studio, we have it at your disposal!
